I recently bought 4 products from 100% Pure Cosmetics to test out. This is the second natural make-up brand I am reviewing, the first one was UltraPure Cosmetics. 100% Pure was recommended to me by a friend, and I decided to try it because it is free of all toxic chemicals found in conventional cosmetics (parabens, dyes, fragrances, etc.). The coolest part of all: 100% Pure colors their make up with fruit and vegetable pigments! Read on to learn how these products worked for me.

Please note: I was not paid to do this review, and I am not an affiliate of 100% Pure

Watch me do my make up and review the products in the video below. I didn’t have time to go through the ingredients of the products in the video, but they are discussed below in this post.

The Gel Eye Liner

Color: Black Tea

Ingredient Breakdown

  • Black Tea
  • Aloe Vera Gel
  • Rose Hydrosol – an aqueous solution of rose essential oil
  • Candelilla Wax – wax from the leaves of candelilla shrub
  • Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil – chemically altered jojoba oil
  • Resveratrol – an antioxidant found in red wine
  • Extracts of Oregano, Thyme, Rosemary, Lavender, Goji Berry, Acai Berry and Goldenseal
  • Peptides of Snow Pea, Black Rice and Hibiscus – protein extracts
  • Vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate)
  • Vitamin E (a-tocopherol)
  • Rice Starch
  • Japaneses Honeysuckle Extract

My Thoughts

This product was hard to work with. If you watch my video review you can get a more visual idea of what I mean by that. It is much more watery than conventional gel eyeliners. Instead of gliding it over the eyelid I had to dab it on because when I stroked the brush it became transparent. After dabbing it on for a while I finally achieved a similar look to my usual. I wore it for a few hours but it seemed to fade further. I think that if you have patience you can make this product work for you. Applying 2 layers of eyeliner could add the intensity factor that seemed to be missing.

The ingredients in this product are very safe and natural. While some of 100% Pure’s products are listed as organic, this product doesn’t contain a single organic ingredient, so keep in mind that not all of 100% Pure’s products are organic. It must be very challenging to produce an organic cosmetic, so I’m just impressed that they offer some organic products rather than upset that all their products aren’t organic.

This gel eyeliner cost $30, and I don’t think it’s worth this price because of how hard it was to work with. I never used it again after doing this review. I feel that there’s really no point in having a super natural product if it doesn’t actually do the job it’s supposed to.

The Verdict

My rating: 3/10
This product barely resembles normal gel eyeliners. I do not recommend this product.

The Eye Shadow

Color: Cocoa Plum

Ingredient Breakdown

  • Organic Rice Starch
  • Pigments of Organic Carrot
  • Organic Apricot
  • Organic Peach
  • Organic Pomegranate
  • Organic Blueberry
  • Organic Coffee
  • Organic Tomato
  • Vitamin E (a-tocopherol)
  • Organic Lavender
  • Organic Rosehip
  • Organic Avocado Butter
  • Mica – natural shimmery mineral
  • Jojoba Oil
  • Vitamin A (a-palmitate)
  • Vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate)
  • Silica – naturally occurring silicon compound

My Thoughts

This eye shadow worked great. The only thing I noticed is that 100% pure does not offer a huge variety of colors. Most colors offered are neutral, they don’t even offer a black as far as I can tell from website. So if you are looking for more vivid eye shadow colors you might want to check out Ultrapure or Red Apple Lipstick instead.

The ingredients are highly pure and all listed as organic! Each ingredient even stated who certified it as organic on the website. Basically all that’s in the eye shadow is organic fruit, herbs, vitamins, and minerals. I’m very happy with the ingredients in 100% Pure’s eye shadow. Each color of eye shadow costs about $25, but I think it’s worth it for a product with such high quality ingredients and that works well.

The Verdict

My Rating: 11/10

If you are looking for neutral shades of eye shadows, 100% pure can hook you up. This product works well, and they have THE BEST ingredients out of any natural eye shadow I have seen.

The Cream Stick (Lip Liner)

Creamstick color: Perfect Berry

Ingredient Breakdown

  • Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil – chemically altered jojoba oil
  • Cocoa Butter – vegetable fat found in chocolate
  • Shea Butter – vegetable fat extracted from shea nut
  • Beeswax
  • Coconut Stearic Acid – an extract from coconut
  • Vitamin E (Tocopherol)
  • Rosehip Oil
  • May contain all or some of the following fruit pigments : Cherry, Cocoa, Strawberry, Plum, Blueberry, Blackberry, Peach, Apricot, Tomato, Pomegranate, Acai, Raspberry, Chokeberry and Cranberry, Rice Strach Powder.

My Thoughts

When I purchased this cream stick, I purchased it as a liner because I generally use lip liner when applying lipstick to help shape my lips. Its a lot bigger than I was expecting which makes it more difficult to do fine details with. However, it is a nice color and nice consistency. Although I didn’t really like it as a liner, it worked well as a lipstick. The ingredients are good in this product, but this is another product in which none of the ingredients are organic, so it’s not as high quality as the eye shadow or the lip glaze.

The Verdict

My Rating: 8/10

Better as a lipstick than a liner, but overall a good product. Does not contain organic ingredients, but ingredients are still really good.

The Lip Glaze

Lip Glaze Color: Naked Pink

Ingredient Breakdown

  • Organic Avocado Butter
  • Organic Cocoa Butter

  • Organic Shea Butter
  • Organic Rosehip Oil
  • Organic Mango Butter
  • Vitamin E (a-tocopherol)
  • Vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate)
  • May contain Mica – natural shimmery mineral

My Thoughts

This lipstick was a nice color and consistency, and look at all those organic ingredients! I’m really happy with this product overall.

The Verdict

My rating: 10/10

Amazing ingredients, and great color/consistency. I highly recommend this product!

Make up Test Run

Final Thoughts

100% Pure Cosmetics is definitely one of the cleanest make up companies out there. Virtually all their ingredients are natural with the exception of the hydrogenated jojoba oil that was an ingredient in the eye liner and the cream stick. I highly doubt I will ever find a make up product that is more natural than 100% Pure’s eye shadow and lip glaze due to the fact that every ingredient was natural and almost every ingredient was organic. However, I feel that 100% Pure may have sacrificed the quality of the cosmetics to a certain extent due to how natural the ingredients are, especially in the case of the gel eye liner. While the eye shadow is good, it does not come in any intense colors due to the limitations of the natural pigments they use to color it. If you are willing to deal with less color selection, and more time consuming application (in regards to the eye liner) as a trade off for safe, highly natural cosmetics, then 100% Pure is definitely for you!

These products were pretty expensive, here is a breakdown of what each product cost:

  • Gel Eye Liner: 30 USD
  • Eye Shadow: 20 USD
  • Cream Stick: 35 USD
  • Lip Glaze: 35 USD

I think they are definitely worth their price due to how natural these products are, but I still don’t recommend the gel eye liner just because of how difficult it was to work with. By switching to 100% Pure Cosmetics over conventional cosmetics, you will cutting out tons of toxic chemicals from your daily routine!

I hope this review helped you decide if 100% pure is right for you! Check out my other natural make-up reviews here:

  1. I love the idea of this make up company. It’s too bad the eyeliner didn’t work out, but everything else looks nice!
